The S-MED Platform represents a critical infrastructure development for Somalia’s public health and humanitarian sectors. By aggregating fragmented datasets from multiple sources—including hospital registries and verbal autopsy surveys—it creates the first unified national framework for mortality surveillance.

Using advanced machine learning algorithms, the platform fills data gaps through predictive modeling and provides policymakers with real-time insights into mortality trends across time and geographic regions. It supports the Somali Federal Government and international partners in making evidence-based resource allocation decisions.
